Currently the treatment of 3D images is applied more and more frequently. Today there are varied and detailed programs to better graph models or designs in all areas, offering a “real” idea of what you want to show.
3D is the way to see an object, a space or a scene, taking into account its three dimensions: height, width and depth. When drawing with this technique, the real space is conjugated with that of the objects and their volumes, by using the three coordinate axes X, Y, Z, and analyzing how they interact with each other. By relating the drawing or graphic with a PC and a modeling program such as Autodesk 3dmax, Rhinoceros, Maya or Blender, not only are these dimensions (width, height and depth) appreciated, but light, shadows, reflections or textures, among other elements.
In recent years there has been a breakthrough in the ability to perform calculations by computers, a factor that helped 3D images or graphics can be created faster and increasingly accurate.

From the 3d model to the image
We would like to explain what is the difference between a render and a 3D model. For this, in the first instance, we will begin by conceptualizing what we understand by Render and then approaching a definition of 3D model and thus be able to infer their differences.
The Render is a digital image that is created from a 3D model or scenario made in a specialized computer program, whose objective is to give a REALISTIC appearance from any perspective of the model.
The 3D model is a model that is made from 2D drawings. The procedure to perform it consists of various processes, which with the use of different techniques of texturing materials, lighting, distribution of objects, as well as photographic techniques, create a series of optical effects that want to reflect a specific situation in the real world, resulting in a photorealistic image, that is, that appears to be a photograph taken by a real physical camera.
After having created the 3D model, we start with the process of generating the image.
This process of transforming a 3D model into an image is called rendering.

The rendering process carried out by the computer is based on a group of very precise mathematical formulas and algorithms that simulate the rebounding of light rays on the 3D objects in the scene, tracking them from the virtual camera that we place, to the light sources that illuminate the scene. These, together with other external elements, describe and show polygonal objects, textures, shadows, tonalities, transparencies, translucency, refractions, reflections, Occlusion, Dispersion, Caustics, illumination (global, direct and indirect), depth of field or “dof”, Blurs by movement, environment, point of view, etc. Which generate that they are ordering the pixels so that they look like a real image.

It is indispensable and part of our responsibility as 3D designers to be careful observers of the natural behavior of light on the different surfaces and circumstances of the environment, to be able to reproduce them as accurately as possible in the 3D model and in this way to bring our clients closer to image as realistic and detailed as possible.
A well-known and most widely used program to create and manage 3D images is autodesk 3dmax. It is used by most of the designers and is oriented to the development of videogames, whose characteristics are obtained with a plugins called vray, which is a rendering engine.

After having done the rendering process, we get an image. This can be treated as a static image, with a program of treatment of images like (adobe photoshop) or give it movement (transforming itself into an animation). To then treat it with a video editing program like (adobe after effects) obtaining a video in this way. This post – rendering treatment is called post – production.
